Keyshia Cole May Retire From Music…

Keyshia Cole has decided to retire from the music industry, at least when it comes to dropping new music. In response to a comment about her latest single (“I Don’t Wanna Be In Love”), the 39-year-old singer-songwriter simply responded with a tweet saying, “I’m retiring…”. She then replied to another fan with “Y’all always think I’m hacked.”

The mother of two explained her need to spend more time with her children. “Man, I love my boys. So much!!!” she typed before assuring her fans about the promised release of her eight studio album. “I’m already contracted to do so, I wouldn’t do that to @BMG ,myself, or my fans,” she wrote. “But I’m gonna have to move at my pace with this one. #Album8.” She added, “We’ll always have the released music. And the next project.”

In another tweet, she explained how she’s not hanging up the mic entirely and will still maintain a music career when it comes to touring and hitting the stage. “I’m not gonna stop performing! Naw! Just the releasing music side of things.”

Cole released her latest track, “I Don’t Wanna Be In Love,” following her record-making Verzuz event with fellow singer Ashanti. Since her 2004 debut single, “Never” (featuring rapper Eve) and follow-up “I Changed My Mind,” the Oakland native’s nearly two-decade career delivered chart-topping singles like “Let It Go” and “Heaven Sent” and fan-favorite albums like A Different Me and Point of No Return.
